1. All candidates for certification / re-certification must have an active, unencumbered license as an LPN/LVN in the United States or a U.S. territory. 1. Candidates with probationary licenses may apply for a special review of circumstances. See www.napnes.org/certifications for complete details. 2. All certifications will be for a period of three years. This does not effect any currently certified nurses. However, any certification / re-certification candidates applying after the above noted effective date will receive a three year certification. 3. All certifications will require 24 contact hours of continuing education during the certification period to qualify for re-certification. Other continuing education rules may apply to specific certifications. See www.napnes.org/certifications for complete details. 1. Nurses certified before December 31, 2004 are exempt from this requirement for their first re-certification following the effective date above. 2. All nurses certified after January 1, 2005 must meet all continuing education requirements for re-certification. 4. Candidates who do not apply for re-certification before the expiration date of their current certification will be assessed a $25.00 late fee. 5. Candidates who do not apply for re-certification within 60 days of the expiration date of their current certification will not be eligible for re-certification and must follow the certification procedure. 6. All returned checks for insufficient funds will be charged a $50.00 return check fee. Failure to pay all required fees will result in revocation of the certification. 7. Rule changes concerning any certification posted to NAPNES' web site shall be considered notification to all certified nurses and certification candidates. NAPNES will no longer mail notifications of change.
